Citroën have today announced full details of their facelifted C5 Aircross SUV which has undergone significant design enhancements as part of the latest product refresh. The New C5 Aircross offers an imposing and rugged design thanks to a newly designed front end which incorporates a new design language and interpretation of the brand logo. The freshly designed rear taillights and lavish new interior seating also enhance the aesthetic appeal of this vehicle. The facelifted version of this C-segment SUV, which has been the bestselling Citroën passenger car in Ireland since 2020, will be available with a choice of petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid versions and first models are set to arrive in Ireland next month for the 222-registration period.
At first glance the exterior changes to the front end are evident. With current Citroën models, the brand logo is designed in chrome on the front grille as an extension of the daytime running lights, however, the New C5 Aircross proudly displays a larger chevron logo set in a black lacquer with chrome surrounds. This logo rests on a newly designed grille that features a chrome and piano black combination and sits independently from the daytime running lights to offer a more modern and imposing look. This design is further complimented by the new styling of the air intake area which visually widens the front end, echoing the style of the C4 and C5 X. In addition, larger and wider air curtains add to the muscular stance and help to improve overall aerodynamics. Further displays of power and robustness are evident from the distinctive high and horizontal bonnet while the chrome C-side signature reinforces the floating roof effect. The C5 Aircross also offers an impressive ground clearance of 230mm for true off-road appeal. Consistent with the front of the vehicle, the rear light signature has been redesigned with darkened glass to highlight three individual LED lighting modules in a 3D effect. The facelifted C5 Aircross will be available in 6 different colour options including the new Eclipse Blue option which changes shade based on the external light exposure.
Inside, the fully customisable 12.3” digital display provides all essential and customisable information directly in the driver’s eye-line ensuring optimal road visibility at all times. There is also a newly designed 10” touchscreen infotainment system (My Citroën Drive) which comes as standard from the second trim level and provides a more modern feel to the cabin. This new design improves ergonomics by allowing the air vents to move below the screen to ensure a higher reading position. The New C5 Aircross is equipped with the latest generation of Citroën Advanced Comfort® seats offering high-density foam in the core of the seat with an extra 15mm layer of memory foam featuring a specific design to resist sagging over time. Colours and materials have also been refined, with new contemporary seating fabrics complimented by decorative blue stitching which extends onto the door panels and dashboard.
The New C5 Aircross retains characteristics that make it stand out in its segment, contributing to an overall experience focused on well-being and ease of use. The Progressive Hydraulic Cushions® suspension, exclusive to Citroën, enhances absorption of imperfections in the road and ensures that passengers travel in absolute comfort. C5 Aircross is the only SUV in the segment to offer three individual sliding, reclining and retractable rear seats, allowing MPV modularity in true SUV style. The boot volume is a record for the segment: from 580 L to 720 L in the petrol and diesel versions and from 460 L to 600 L for the hybrid version. Special attention has also been paid to the acoustic characteristics with laminated front windows enhancing cabin comfort. The New C5 Aircross also offers a wide range of latest-generation technologies and features 20 benchmark driver-assistance systems including Highway Driver Assist, a level 2 autonomous driving system that combines Adaptive Cruise Control with a Stop & Go function and the Active Lane Departure Warning system to provide enhanced safety for all occupants.
Speaking today, Colin Sheridan Managing Director of Citroën Ireland commented “The New C5 Aircross offers a more assertive design and enhanced refinement thanks to the modern front-end design and latest generation technology. These enhancements, along with class leading comfort and practicality makes this an exciting new model for the Irish market. In addition, we are delighted to have secured a strong production allocation based on our July seasonality, so I expect this New C5 Aircross SUV to be a big hit when it arrives on Irish shores in the coming weeks”
In terms of engines, the C5 Aircross will provide an offering suitable for all uses with petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid options available. The Petrol offering will see a 1.2 litre PureTech 130hp engine paired to either a 6-speed manual and 8-speed automatic transmission, the Diesel 1.5 litre BlueHDi 130hp engine will also be matched to a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission while the Plug-in Hybrid version will feature a 1.6 litre petrol engine paired to an 80kW electric motor to deliver a combined power output of 225hp with the possibility of driving up to 55 km in full electric mode. This Plug-In Hybrid version will also benefit from a range of online connected services to facilitate delayed charging and cabin pre-conditioning via the My Citroën smartphone app. Charging is fast, with a full charge completed in less than two hours using a standard wall-box connection.
